OK, in the paranormal thread I alluded to a UFO encounter but didn't elaborate on it in that thread.

So I will do so here.

If YOU have had any sort of UFO encounter, please feel free to relate it here as well.

This encounter happened more then 30 years ago. There were about 8 people who saw this craft. It was evening in Jacksonville, NC. The band I was in was playing an enlisted club at Camp Lejeune and had come to the first break. We stepped outside the clubs back door.

From that position, we had a clear view of the sky towards the New River and down past the barracks. It was a warm clear night on the base. The band (3 members) and a few of the road crew as well as a number of Marines who were in the club that evening were all outside. We tended not to get intoxicated on anything while on the base. Doing so was not a very good idea so we were all sober. I think the patrons were trying to get blasted but it was still very early in the evening and they had not reached the point of intoxication on the 3.1 beer they sold in the club.

One of the Marines said, "Hey! What the hell is that?" Pointing in the direction of the barracks and the river. I looked up to see some sort of craft moving fast and silently toward us.....with no lights on it whatsoever. It passed directly over head, maybe several hundred feet above us. Again, when it was directly overhead, it made no sound, and had no lights. We could see it clearly in the sky as it reflected the lights from the ground. It was round in shape (viewed from below) and appeared to be about 60 feet or so across, and appeared to be shiny non-painted metal from what we could see and how it reflected the light. It was moving about 50mph when it passed over us.

The bass player in the band was a combat veteran (Vietnam) and commented after that in all his years in the service, he had seen a number of strange things but nothing like what we saw that night.

The nightclub was called the 5th area e-club, and was located very close to the main part of the base. The field house and parade fields as well as the Commanding General's office was located nearby. It was common for military aircraft, especially helicopters to be operating there day and night. They, however, make one heck of a racket and ALL aircraft over a military base have lights on them.

No one who was there that saw it had any idea what it was. All we know is that we saw something that we had never seen before in all our experience.

If it was a secret military craft or of alien design and command, well....we'll never know.

I just know what I saw that night and it wasn't a chopper or a Harrier.
