SALT LAKE CITY - Are UFOs real? Do extraterrestrials exist?
Five former legislators, including former Utah Congressman Merrill Cook, are about to open a congressional-style hearing and listen to testimony from 40 researchers, military personnel and witnesses to try and uncover the truth about extraterrestrial life and to address allegations of the government's lack of transparency with regards to UFOs.
The meeting called Citizen Hearing on Disclosure will be held in Washington, D.C., at the National Press Club from April 29 to May 3. The hearing committee is composed of former congressmen and congresswomen, including Cook, Darlene Hooley of Oregon, Carolyn Kilpatrick of Michigan, Lynn Woolsey of California, and Sen. Mike Gravel from Alaska.
Cook said he was asked to be on the panel and is approaching it with an open mind. Paradigm Research Group is paying him to be there, but Cook said that won't influence him to think one way or the other.

A former colonel with the United States Air Force has accused the U.S. of covering up evidence related to extraterrestrial visitations.
"I'm very interested in finding out what these witnesses have to say," Cook told KSL NewsRadio's Doug Wright on Tuesday. "I'm keeping an open mind. I told them if you're going to pay me and if you're going to pay the expenses in addition, don't expect me to just fall in line with what you'd like."
He started his conversation Tuesday by defining what UFOs are.
"The word UFO, unidentified flying object, if you just consider what it means to be an unidentified flying object, I think it's pretty clear that they do exist," he said.
He said he does believe that there are unidentified flying objects that have not been explained by the government, by the military, by scientists, or by people who have credibly reported on such things.
While he said UFOs exist, he called it a "real leap" to say it's an alien life form from outer space.
"It is still a leap to be saying that a UFO is extraterrestrial or that it's being manned by people from outer space or intelligent life or even artificial life that might have been created by intelligent life," he said.

The hearing is organized by Stephen Bassett of the Paradigm Research Group. According to its website, Bassett is a "leading advocate for ending the 65-year government imposed truth embargo regarding an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race."
The hearing will be recorded and released as a documentary. Cook said he believes the rules used in congressional hearings will be followed during this hearing.
"What I would expect (at the hearing) would be credible evidence that there are objects in the sky that were maneuvering in very strange ways, unearthly ways so to speak, and that there's enough evidence that would warrant a sober assessment of what that is," Cook said.
He said he would be surprised to hear credible evidence of a person witnessing intelligent life.
"One thing I don't expect, but it would be just phenomenal if it came," he said with a laugh, "the idea that one of these witnesses or that there's any credible evidence, not just of an object in the sky, but of anything extraterrestrial - be it intelligent life, or what I would more likely expect, and that's artificial intelligent life."
He also shared religious beliefs that would indicate that this universe does have intelligent life beyond this planet.
"I don't know that. I can't prove that," he said. "It's a matter of faith, sort of speak. It's not something I would go out and try to scientifically prove, but I think we should stay open-minded, because some of the most unbelievable things that are now so commonplace were not believed 500,000 years ago."
While there are reasonable national security reasons for secrets, the government at the national level has gone far beyond that, he said.
"There should be very few (secrets) and only if there is a compelling national interest at the national level and a compelling law enforcement interest at the local level," he said.

Here is some footage of the comet ISON close up. This footage shows two cigar shaped UFOs orbiting the comet.
I believe these two UFOs are either hiding with the comet so they won't be detected by other aliens or...even more likely, these UFOs are escorting...guiding the comet to an unknown destination so that the aliens could harvest the valuable minerals it contains.
This is the second video in recent days of this comet. The first one shows that the comet is actually three different parts, two long and one round. This new video confirms that its fact. Two videos...confirming the same thing. This is not coincidence.
Now for the scary part. This comet is supposed to pass so close to earth that you will be able to see it with a telescope. Are these UFOs guiding the comet to use it to impact the Earth? The comet is 5km or 3.1 miles across! Enough to do the job...an extinction event.
Look at it this way, when scientists finish an experiment that they used dog or monkeys in, when the experiment is finished, the destroy all the animals. I have seen this object for months. Always in the southwest sky.It appears at first glance to be a very bright star. You could think it was Venus. This object hovers for 20 minutes, then it moves. It is under the cloud cover and descends in front of the mountain range, mountain range. On this particular night, it changed shapes. it was round then changed into an oval. It pulsed and emitted light. I had two friends who witnessed it from a different location.

LT COLONEL HALT: Heat or some form of energy, it's hardly heat at this stage of the game.
LT COLONEL HALT: Looking directly overhead, one can see an opening in the trees, plus some freshly broken pine branches on the ground underneath. Looks like some of them came off about fifteen to twenty feet up. Some small branches about inch or less in diameter.

The light's still there and all the barnyard animals have gotten quiet now. We're heading about 110 -120 degrees from the site, out through the clearing now. Still getting a reading on the meter about 2 clicks. Needles jumped 3-4 clicks getting stronger.
LT COLONEL HALT: Right, I just turned the meter off. Better say that again, about 4 feet off the ground, about a 110 degrees, getting the reading of about 4 clicks.
LT COLONEL HALT: I... I think it's something here on the ground. I think it's something... very large...
LT COLONEL HALT: We just bumped into the first light that we've seen. We're about a 150 -200 yards from the site. Everything else is just deathly calm. There's no doubt about it, there's some kind of strange flashing red light ahead.
LT COLONEL HALT: I saw a yellow tinge in it too. Weird. It appears to be making a little bit this way?
LT COLONEL HALT: It's brighter than it has been...It's coming this way. It's definitely coming this way.
LT COLONEL HALT: Pieces of it are shooting off.
LT COLONEL HALT: There's no doubt about it; this is weird.
SGT NEVILLES: There's two lights. One light to the right and one light to the left.
SGT NEVILLES: OK, I have an indication that this is a vague reading too

LT COLONEL HALT: We've passed the farmer's house and are crossing the next field and we now have multiple sightings of up to five lights with a similar shape and all, but they seem steady rather than pulsating a glow with a red flash. We've just crossed the creek...
LT COLONEL HALT: What kinda readings are we getting now? We're getting three good clicks on the meteor and we're seeing strange lights in the sky.
LT COLONEL HALT: 3.05: We see strange err, strobe like flashes to the err... almost sporadic, but there's definitely something there, some kind of phenomena. 3.05: At about err... 10 degrees horizon err directly north, we got two strange objects, err...half moon shape, dancing about with colored lights on them. but err. it has to be about 5-10 miles out, maybe less. The half moons have now turned into full circles as though there was an eclipse or something there for a minute or two.
