The lens-shaped formations are scientifically known as 'altocumulus lenticularis' and are the result of moist air that has condensed at a high altitude. They are formed when the air temperature drops and moisture droplets are pushed up a steep slope by high winds.
As a keen photographer, Denis said he loved nothing more than to capture the natural beauty of his home land of
Kamchatka. He said: 'These clouds are very special as they do not move, they stay in one place and
it's only their shape that changes'.

forming at the peaks of the air 'waves'.
Sometimes a phenomenon known as irisation occurs along the edge of lenticular clouds, which causes them to

This unique atmospheric condition creates the interesting lens-shaped form that defines a lenticular cloud. Mountains act as natural barriers forcing clouds to condense quickly as they are pushed to cooler altitudes. Reader Submitted Report[Unedited]4-11-09 My first encounter was when I was camping at 15 yrs. old with a friend and his family in Charlestown, RI, in 1964, August, 9pm. Tommy and I were alone looking up at the stars at the pond's edge when we both saw a very bright 'star' exit quickly from the nearby ocean, in the distance, near Block Island. It zig-zagged at 45 degree angles, in a kind of 'jerky' motion, gaining speed until the last 'zag' sent it instantly into space. The whole thing lasted maybe 3 or 4 seconds. It was just a very bright white light.My most recent sighting was in April, 2006, in Perryville, Rhode Island, about 9pm as I was returning from a night class at URI nearby. As I swung off Rt. 1 onto the Ministerial Rd exit and intersection with Old Post Rd, I was a huge yellowish white light about 200ft above the intersection..I was shocked! No sound, just this light, about 10ft in diameter, and a small electric-green light flashing in what i'd say was the middle of the craft. There was another huge white light at the other 'wingtip' as I figured the craft was either triangle or chevron shaped. I stopped the car, got out, almost directly under it and watched in very slowly and smoothly pivot and move northeast over Ministerial Rd and toward the town of Wakefield. I lost sight of it quickly, almost too quickly; it may have vanished. I called the police in town and the dispatcher took my report seriously, saying no one elso has called in about it. An odd thing, is that as I was under the craft it seemed that time slowed down or was out of whack somehow. One other car came out of a side street while I was out ot the car looking at the craft, but the driver sped off, either afraid or oblivious of it. I had one other good sighting back in the early 90s, summer, while camping on the beach at Martha's Vineyard, Mass. I spied a rotating pinwheel of redish light spinning at the ocean's surface a mile or so off shore at Gay Head. A fishing boat was not too far from the object and had to see it. While sitting in my hot tub just after 9:00 pm I noticed two blue orbs coming over from out of the north. They were below cloud level. No sound. Best estimate for size; I'd say about 10 of them would fill the moon area. But since I really can't tell how high they were this isn't much help. These two were really not side by side when they went over but moved into that configuration as they went south. Guessing that they were about three miles south of me,,,then a smaller red one joined up them from the left. It seemed to come up to them and almost instantly match speed. At about the same time I noted three more coming in from the north. Two blue ones with another red one between them. When those got south of my location there was one more blue one that followed. Their direction was generally south and a little east but they all seemed to wander slightly. The area is Aztec, NM. The colors remained constant in strength and the blue was almost like a neon blue color. All seemed to be round in shape. I almost wanted to wave at them but had second thoughts. They just went out of sight going south into the distance. I'd guess the time involved was 2 to 4 minutes.

Which leaves the two cases theyre actually looking into.
WAVERLY HILLS APPARITION shows 2 figures in the deserted hallway of a legendary haunted sanatorium. A second video seems to show a toy ball moving on its own. Waverly is a ghost-hunting hotspot, and the team gets the usual grisly tour (as seen on several "Ghost Hunters" shows). A test with a ball immediately shows how uneven the floor is. They do a wind test, and the ball moves around easily because of that, too. Seems debunked to me, but the team becomes caught up in the ball moving "too" much, rather than just rocking as in the video. Thats silly. Clearly this drafty old place with the un-level floors could produce any number of effects on a light ball like this, depending on drafts and floor dents/grooves. Then they try to recreate the hallway apparitions with first humans (too solid), then with heaters (too obvious in frame or not defined enough when out of frame). So, even though this "ghost" looks like another reflection or camera malfunction to me,(nothing was seen by the human filming, only the camera), they start a ghost hunt and (no surprise) hear strange noises. Plus, the ball they set down rolls around, seemingly on its own. Id be more impressed with a baseball, basketball, or even a standard playground ball, rather than the lightweight play balls theyre using. Vibrations in this rickety old building could probably move the test-subject ball around. In fact, a heavier-looking ball nearby doesnt move at all. They also get EVPs, which you should know by now I think are almost always completely bogus. Should you be surprised that they declare Waverly Hills haunted? You shouldnt be; the MO of the group this year seems to be to have one gimme for believers every episode. Im guessing the SyFy execs think theres not enough ratings in bursting believer balloons -- or rolling balls -- every week. And speaking of balloons...
GUADALAJARA UFO FLEET seems to show a fleet of round white UFOs hovering in the sky. Their first theory is that the objects might be birds, so they send up a flight of pigeons, but the birds are obviously birds. Next, they try floating ping pong balls in a pool with dry ice clouds to fake the shot. Closer, but ripples are a problem. So, they try what I thought the obvious solution from the beginning (though I understand the need to structure the show this way) and release a mass of balloons. Yeah, hey, bingo! Balloons plus dodgy camera equals UFO fleet. Which makes me think the original videographer was an idiot not to notice. I saw three UFOs this summer, and one of them was likely a Mylar balloon floating over Yellowstone. (Other 2 might have been a helicopter and a Chinese lantern.) So, good job, group. The problem Im having with this show this year is that each episode seems to have an obvious sop to believers -- a case where the group just doesnt push far enough. Amateur stargazers have discovered an intriguing object jutting out from the surface of Mars. The seemingly perfectly rectangular, upright structure, found in NASA images of the Red Planet, bears a striking resemblance to the monoliths planted on Earth and the moon by aliens in the classic sci-fi film "2001: A Space Odyssey."
The object in question was first spotted several years ago after being photographed by the HiRISE camera onboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, a NASA space probe; every so often, it garners renewed interest on the Internet.
But is it unnatural - a beacon erected by aliens for mysterious reasons, and even more mysteriously paralleled in the imaginations of Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke, creators of "2001"? Or is this rock the work of nature?
According to Jonathon Hill, a research technician and mission planner at the Mars Space Flight Facility at Arizona State University, who processes many of the images taken during NASA's Mars missions, the object in question is no more than a roughly rectangular boulder.
The HiRISE camera that photographed it has a resolution of approximately 1 foot (30 centimeters) per pixel - impressive considering the 180-mile (300-kilometer) altitude from which it photographs the Martian surface, but not quite sharp enough to capture the cragginess of a mid-size boulder. "When your resolution is too low to fully resolve an object, it tends to look rectangular because the pixels in the image are squares. Any curve will look like a series of straight lines if you reduce your resolution enough," Hill told Life's Little Mysteries.
The location of the boulder at the bottom of a cliff near many other boulders suggests it broke off the cliff and tumbled to its current spot sometime in the distant past, Hill said. Such a perilous location is itself an argument against deliberate placement by aliens: "If I was going to build a monolith somewhere, that's the last place I would put it!" he said. "The debris falling from the cliff would cover it up pretty quickly, on geologic timescales."
Hill added that the height of the boulder is being exaggerated in the photo by a low sun angle. Photographed when the sun was near the horizon, the boulder casts an especially long shadow.
The ufologists aren't necessarily wrong in calling it a monolith - the word simply translates from Latin as "one stone." But this monolith isn't the masonry of Martians.

Britain's Ministry of Defense has opened the files on UFO sightings dating back to the 1970s and made them public, including witness accounts and the government's response. The event (which is still ongoing) occurred on July 25/2008 around 2:00 AM. I went outside to have a smoke and was laying down on my picnic table and was looking at the stars like I often do and to my surprise I saw a very dim star moving in the sky and at first thought it was the space station which I have seen many times. I quickly realized it was not the space station due to the speed at which the object was moving and also by the way it was moving.
Often, when I saw the space station or even a satellite, the objects were brighter and moved with a constant speed, much faster than a plane and at a very, very high altitude and they would eventually move out of sight and disappear to the naked eye. If you came back in about an hour and a half, you would be able to see the object once again in the case of the space station.
This fast and dim moving object did not move in that fashion, it would speed up (about 5 -10 times the speed of a plane and at least 3 to 5 times or more of the space station) and slow down and moved in a circular pattern around the entire sky/hemisphere. The object as I watched it circle around the earth in the night sky, seemed to get dimmer and higher as I watched it move for over an hour and 45 minutes. After watching the object in wonder and eliminating all possible explanations that it was something normal, I noticed that there were more objects that seemed to meet up with this one and seemed to be following each other and eventually, would meet up near one particular star.
I could type out this event for hours as I witnessed some strange things that night and the best and strangest was, when I noticed the objects joined and grew brighter and changed its direction extremely fast then went straight towards and near the star that these objects tended to meet at and it went dim again and I witness countless of moving objects moving in the night sky and many circled near this new dim star and would move in many strange and fast directions.
While I was watching this star and the dim objects moving to and fro, I noticed a really bright object moving many miles away from what I deemed "A Mother Ship", at the a speed closer to what a commercial plane would move, I actually thought that is was a fast moving plane (but nowhere as fast as the other objects I had been watching for over the last 2 + hours). What was strange about this new object I thought was a approaching plane was, it grew brighter as it moved in a right angled direction and I thought that it was the lights of the plane just moving closer and away from me (much like that of a flash light when it comes closer and finally into contact with your eyes), but right before my eyes the object got brighter and then dimed and then broke into 2 or possibly 3 smaller dim lights and they all moved away from each other in a triangle like shape and away from each other at incredible speeds and joined the other countless stars/objects I had been watching for a tot
al of 2 to 3 and a half hours.
I watched these objects until I could not see them any more (all of the normal stars that did not move that night, the bright stationary stars just disappeared normally, but the dimmer and stationary stars seemed to begin to move slowly, then picked up incredible speeds and moved away just like the other very dim objects I had been watching all morning.
This is a shorten version of what I witnessed that evening, as I was many strange things that I cannot explain and I honestly believe I saw many UFO's that evening and one or many objects that eventually tried to pass themselves off as a regular star and seemed to wink out of existence and be creating many of these strange moving objects and allowed many to return to it or circle around it before moving off at a high rate of speed.
The next evening I again went out to see if I could see another or many of these strange moving objects and to my wonder I was able to pick out many fast moving objects exactly like the ones I witnessed the night before and many again seemed to be coming and moving to and fro from the same star I believed to be some form of mother ship the other night. I am going to get my telescope and binoculars out tomorrow evening and see if I cannot get a better view of what is going on in the night sky above Manitoba.
I have a hard time even looking at the words "mother ship" coming out of my mouth or typed in front of me and totally understand why people try to keep this type of stuff to themselves. I tried to get a picture, but the objects were moving too fast for a digital camera or even a good film camera to catch them on video and my son's eyes were not good enough to see these objects or he was not blessed with the ability to see such dim objects moving in the sky. I almost believe that once you can see these objects, it becomes easier to find and see them as the next night proved.
This is an on-going experience and I will let you know if it still continues tomorrow. I am not seeing things or nuts, I know what I am seeing and can hardly believe it myself. The only thing to my credit is, my son said he was able to see a few and hear from one of his friends that there was a story on the news or radio that others have also been seeing these objects moving in the night sky above Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Will keep you informed.

"HUNTING" FOR UFOSI started collecting data, seeing people in the Air Force, talking to literally hundreds of pilots, air crews and so on who have seen them. If you say, "Gee, I saw something funny in the sky the other day when we were flying. It was round," kind of bringing out the point that you've seen a UFO without saying "UFO," it's amazing how many people will say, "Oh yeah, I saw one the other day," or whatever. It's come to the point where I'm more surprised that people have not seen them than that people have seen them. All these people I was talking to were officers in the military who had high clearances.Near where I live, Hammerton, New Jersey, there's what the locals call the "phantom train." Route 536 near route 206 has a lot of trees and forest. In any case, we're getting repeated reports that people see what looks like a train coming toward them, coming out into an open field, a farmer's field with the big headlights on. It comes right up to them and then hovers over the car, so you can see the light of this thing on all four sides of the car. People are obviously frightened so they drive really fast. I've gone there trying to find this thing, but it's funny - I've never seen a UFO while hunting for one.We had a case where an eight-year-old boy saw UFOs, almost every night. He'd tell his sister and mother, "There's UFOs out there!" and they're all like, "Yeah, yeah," and kind of ignored him. They went out for pizza one night and when they came home, the eight-year-old says,, "Oh, there it is!" Of course, they all look up and see it. This went on for weeks. They'd call us, and we'd try to go there, but whenever we went it wasn't there. Theirs was a half million dollar home, a beautiful home not far from the Philadelphia Airport. Behind the house is a farmer's field and some forest and the UFO would hang over the forest. Every so often a plane from Philadelphia airport would fly by and when that happened, this thing would sink down into the trees. It would cut its lights, make them very dim so they could hardly be seen. The plane would fly by, then the UFO would lift up out of the forest and hang around once again. Well, things started happening; they finally saw the aliens and became very frightened about it. Interestingly enough, they also became very religious. According to them the aliens took them on flights. So we would go out and watch, but the aliens wouldn't show up when we were there. We went to a few neighbors and asked them about it. They seemed to be very frightened themselves and would slam the doors in our faces. We've had a number of cases like that.A story frequently not told in the UFO field is that if the aliens are bothering you, they can do lots of strange things, like levitate items in your house. We had one case where the dishwasher door opened and all the utensils inside the dishwasher came out, got up on the counter and marched around the room. You check out the people to whom this happens. They hold good jobs and have college degrees, live in big homes and are very successful -- and they're telling you that their utensils are marching down the countertop! It's kind of hard to believe, but you start getting these stories from more than one source. That's not normally in UFO books, because it sounds so crazy. But they deliberately do stuff. I think, that seems crazy, so that the story sounds like you have lost your mind. Maybe they also have a sense of humor; that could be part of it.COLLECTING EVIDENCEIn terms of back engineering, I've heard the stories but have no first-hand information. In our top-secret files I've never seen any official-looking document that I knew was real that even mentioned it. Since I was an intelligence briefer for various generals and military and tactical air command, I used to put on morning briefings with hundreds of slides and had good access to almost any slides that existed in the air force. I went to Washington, DC and got hundreds, if not thousands of slides, many of which were classified, to use in the briefings. And because sometimes we would get pilot reports about a UFO buzzing them or something like that, and as I'm collecting these other slides, I'd ask, "do you have any UFO reports? "They'd say, "Oh, we have a couple cabinets full." But when I said that I needed some for the briefing, they told me they couldn't give them to me unless I had a letter from the commander who was a four-star general, one of the top four or five generals in the air force. A letter from him would release the photos. I went back and wrote the letter and sent it to my intelligence commander, and he didn't want to send it up to the general to get the authorization for the pictures.What got me into collecting files after my retirement in 1978 was that I became an investigator for NUFON and would go out and check into various cases. When you go to investigate a case, it's usually not around the corner, it's an hour or two away. You get there and sometimes the people are there, sometimes they're not, and it gets to be a real hassle. And even when you get the information and write it up and send it to NUFON, that's kind of the end of it. All this work people were doing, investigating cases, I just thought it should be published somewhere. So I started putting my files together in January of 1997. I just felt that this UFO thing was something I'd always been interested in, that it was almost a mission for me to report it to the world.I hadn't seen anything in the military that indicated they took it very seriously. Even when you would brief generals and colonels about UFOs, everybody would kind of smile. I think many people have been through that, they know the kind of strange look you get when you start talking about UFOs. As a matter of fact, that strange look of ridicule that's developed through the years is probably the main reason we don't know what this is all about. There isn't to my knowledge, any real funding that looks into the situation. Most corner pizza stores are run with a lot more funding than NUFON, and we're supposedly the biggest group of UFO researchers in the country. Without money, there's not a lot of respect and there's no real research going on in a university, that kind of thing. Yet at the same time, there's a huge demand for information and interest is growing.PROVING THE EXISTENCE OF UFOSLarge numbers of people now have binoculars, video cameras and other cameras. If they see anything, something like a third of the witnesses reach for a camera or binoculars and get a much better view of what it is they see. And that's happening in many countries throughout the world. In Argentina they're taking pictures and putting them on TV, also in Japan, Nepal, Australia and England -- essentially all over the world. At Popocatepetl there's a video camera on twenty-four hours a day, regularly picking up UFOs or at least black objects of some size flying around the volcano. I think that the data indicates there's something going on. There seems to be more activity now.In the late forties and early fifties, there seemed to be a lot of activity people were reporting and initially it was taken very seriously. But they didn't get really good photos and there was a lot of silliness. And allegedly the government came to the conclusion that they should deny it, that it might hurt us in a time of war, clog up our communications and so on. Consequently, they stopped emphasizing and started denying it and the ridicule factor set in. Many people realize that, whatever their career, it's a good thing to forget about and not report having seen a UFO, because it could hurt your career in many fields. But if you could get these people before Congress to tell their story and it was on TV, then a certain percentage of the population could listen to it. Congressional hearings would have to happen at the demand of the public.We'll need some kind of an exceptionally important situation to occur. I think one just happened in the Ukraine, where a Su-27 crashed into a crowd at an air show. And it's interesting that there's some question fo exactly how many were killed -- somewhere between seventy-six and eighty-three people were killed and two hundred and fifty were wounded. A UFO is in films of the plane falling to the ground, films that were shown in both Russia and Germany. You have to slow the film down to see the UFO, which is a cigar-shaped craft -- it looks like a white cigar. The Su-27 is doing some kind of aerobatics, when it appears to be stalling and becomes unstable, and the UFO goes right under it. Now, we don't know if this was a harmful thing or a helpful thing, going under the aircraft at high speed. In any case, it appears to have given the pilot enough time to eject. But even in the Ukraine the fact that this UFO was there is now almost being ignored. The immediate causes of the crash were supposedly a mistake by the Su-27 crew and their piloting techniques, flying over the crowd, being too heavy and so on. The pilots are denying that they are at fault. In any case, if it gets into some kind of open court, where both sides could give their information, the UFO might become very important. I personally think that a court case of something like this might be where we actually prove the existence of UFOs. This post proposes a discussion on the various hypotheses in ufology, to clarify where parasociology stands on the issue. It is motivated by the writings of some people on the web who wrote some time ago that parasociology is a bizarre approach to UFOs. Well, I think these statements are made from a position of ignorance. Such ignorance, in turn, is probably enabled by the fact that most comprehensive overviews of what is going on in the field of UFO research are so misleading than one is likely to remain ignorant. For me, a key contributor to such a lack of clarity is the very unsatisfactory nature of typologies about ufological hypotheses. Most of the existing typologies do not go to the bottom of those ufological hypotheses, and they exclude a number of them. Ultimately, they depict a very warped and incomplete portrait of what is going on in ufology. The typology proposed under the label "Ufology" in Wikipedia is a prominent example of this.
THE NOTIONS OF HYPOTHESIS AND TYPOLOGY
A hypothesis is essentially a temporary answer to a research question, which one tries to prove or disprove through reasoned investigation. In the case of UFOs, the main research question exists in various forms, but all versions of it are about the nature and origin of the phenomenon, which remain uncertain to this day. Hence, any hypothesis about UFOs is about ontology; to provide a temporary answer about what these things are to guide research and investigation. A typology, on the other hand, is a classification system that is based on the fundamental underpinnings of what is being classified. It is not a serendipity listing of what exists on a particular topic, which would be incomplete by definition as there are always new items to add to the list. Hence, a typology of ufological hypotheses requires looking into the fundamental underpinnings of these hypotheses.
THE FUNDAMENTAL UNDERPINNINGS
All hypotheses about UFOs, (i.e., statements by those who consider that phenomenon remains unexplained) are based on two sets of fundamental underpinnings. The first one is about the objective versus subjective nature of the phenomenon. Are UFOs real objects or are they real only in the mind of people? The second set, which is closely related to first one, is whether the phenomenon is the product of non-human entities or human sources. In this light, the key hypotheses in ufology can be regrouped in 4 generic hypotheses, although they should be seen as being part of spectrum rather than air-tight categories.
"Extra-Terrestrial Hypothesis (ETH)"
The first one, the best known and most popular, and yet the one with least amount of evidence to support itself is the Extra-terrestrial Hypothesis (ETH). Put on a spectrum, it is the hypothesis that implies the highest degree of objectivity in the phenomenon (the "nuts and bolt" approach being its most extreme version). Older ETH ufology tends to be at the extreme, where there is little room for anything else but the "nuts and bolt". Newer ETH authors admit (grudgingly) that there might be something a bit more subjective as the phenomenon might have also a paranormal aspect. Paranormal events being always unclear, fuzzy and on the borderline of normal perception are by definition more subjective than a physical "flying saucer". Stanton Friedman is a good example of this position. A little bit further away from the extreme is the "ETH at the 2nd degree", a concept developed by European ufologists who consider that UFOs are still physical spaceship, but the aliens can only connect to us through paranormal means given that there is so much psychological and cultural differences between us and them.
"Paranormal Hypothesis (PNH)"
Then, moving further away from the objective extreme is the Paranormal Hypothesis (PNH). The PNH implies that UFOs and aliens are paranormal manifestations produced by non-human entities (but not aliens from outer space). Given that UFOs are considered paranormal manifestation by the PNH, and that paranormal perceptions are always mixed up with the psychological and cultural frames of reference of the witnesses, the PNH accepts that the phenomenon requires to be understood also as something subjective. Authors like Jacques Vall'ee, John Keel, and Mac Tonnies are representative of this approach. The nature of the non-human entities can vary considerably from intra-terrestrial, inter-dimensional, to time-traveller and mythical intelligence.
"Parapsychological Hypothesis (PPH)"
Then, getting closer to the subjective end of the spectrum by explaining the phenomenon mostly through interactions between psi effects and psycho-social factors is what I call the Parapsychological Hypothesis (PPH). The PPH does not reject the notion that there is a material reality to UFOs, but it hypothesized that it is the product of the human mind, unconsciously using its psi capabilities. In this case, we cross the threshold human/non-human, as the PPH is defined by excluding the notion of non-human entities to explain the phenomenon. This is my approach, and the one of people like Bertrand M'eheust, John Spencer and Hilary Evans.
"Psycho-social Hypothesis (PSH)"
Finally, there is the psycho-social hypothesis (PSH), which implies that there is no objective reality behind the phenomenon, but only subjective psychological and sociological constructions based on misperceptions and make-beliefs. This is the approach used by the more sophisticated debunkers.
Graphically, the typology can be represented as follow:
TYPOLOGY AS A USEFUL TOOL
Typologies in science are not only created to provide comprehensive descriptions; they are also useful tools to assess research and establish priorities. The selection of the PPH as my approach to the UFO phenomenon is not only a matter of preference; it is actually a reasoned choice, because out of the four primary hypotheses, the PPH is the most promising one.
The ETH is, in theory, a verifiable hypothesis in that if a piece of material or organic tissue is found to be not from this world, then it can be validated. The problem, of course, is that the ETH ufologists have been banging their respective head against a wall of failure for over 60 years. They are literally waiting that the proof "fall from the sky" (or from a brown envelop...). Such attitude is not a scientific one. When a hypothesis fails to deliver after ongoing testing it means that it is not a valid approach and something else needs to be tried. To continue in such circumstances becomes a matter of faith and belief and no more of reasoned investigation.
The PNH is an interesting one, and it has the merit of highlighting the well-documented and central role of the paranormal dimension of the UFO experience, which is mostly ignored by representatives of the ETH, and by the PSH. The fatal flaw of the PNH is that it cannot be tested as it implies the existence of non-human entities that would call all the shots on how, where and when they can be seen. This is not testable from the point of view of the natural sciences, as the object requires a degree control and repeatability, and it cannot be tested from the point of view of the social sciences because we cannot use what we know about humans to understand the intents and motivations of the alleged non-human entities, given that they are not human. A non-testable hypothesis is not a hypothesis, it is speculation.
The PSH highlights important psycho-social dynamics that are clearly part of the overall phenomenon, but its representatives blatantly ignore the well-documented material evidence about UFOs. This fact alone fully undermines the validity of the overall hypothesis. The PSH, very much like the ETH, is closer to a belief system than reasoned investigations.
The PPH, on the other hand, is respectful of both the material and paranormal dimensions of the phenomenon by integrating them into the analysis. Furthermore, the parasociological version of the PPH is also able to integrate the psycho-social dynamics identified by the PSH, yet without ignoring the material reality of the phenomenon. Finally, contrary to the ETH and PNH, the PPH offers the possibility of being testable by using our knowledge of human beings from a variety of disciplines like (parapsychology, psychology, sociology, anthropology, cultural studies, etc.). All in all, the PPH is from rational standpoint the best bet for improving our understanding of UFOs.
In light of a clearer understanding of what is going in UFO research I return the question: who is bizarre here?

An amateur photographer from Canada claims to have photographed an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) over the North Shore Mountains in Vancouver, British Columbia.
According to the Vancouver Sun, Anthony Ellis, a resident of the city, only noticed the speck on the slide later, after he downloaded the image to his computer.
"I was quite surprised," he explained, adding that he had not altered the image and the same speck was not visible on other photographs taken at the same time.
Ellis' UFO sighting adds to the number of recent UFO reports; the number is believed to have increased over the past 12 months. According to an annual report from Ufology Research, there has been a 100% increase in the number of UFO sightings in 2012 alone, compared to previous years.
Chris Rutkowski, a civilian science writer and the author of the UFO survey since 1989, explained the increasing numbers of sightings in the recent past by saying there were simply more people watching the skies than before.
"It's something across the board," Rutkowski said, "People in Canada were actually looking up rinto the sky more than in previous years."
For example, in December last year, an American in Vancouver reported seeing a disc-shaped object move out of a cloud formation before changing direction and disappearing. Speaking to the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), the man said he was watching the sky and admiring the clouds when he first saw the UFO.
"Just beneath the sun there was a cloud out of which a bright, reflective, circular disk-type UFO zipped, changed directions into an upside down U-shaped flight path, and then it disappeared in thin air. The whole thing happened within a matter of an instant. If I had blinked I would have missed it," the unidentified man said, according to a report in Examiner.
UFO sightings continue to draw significant attention and debate, with a photograph, released recently by NASA, one of several in the spotlight. In NASA's image, a disc-shaped object can be seen hovering above the Earth's surface, emitting rainbow-like lights.
