Southwestern Illinois, January 5, 2000, about 4:00 a.m.
Anyone who has been in Illinois in January knows that when the sun goes down, it gets cold... real cold. The night of January 5, 2000, was no exception. Everyone who could was staying warm inside, but all did not have this luxury.
Melvin Knoll's livelihood was his miniature golf course, and worried that something may have frozen there, he braved the cold night to make sure everything was OK. When he arrived at his business, he noticed what he thought was a very bright star on the northeastern horizon.
He thought nothing of it at the time, and finished checking out the golf course. After satisfying himself that all was well, he jumped back into his warm truck to head home. As he did, he could not help but notice that the light was still there, and even more visible than before.
He watched it for a moment, and it suddenly seemed to be coming straight toward him! As it came nearer, he could see red lights shining toward the ground. As it came even closer, the object appeared to be as tall as a two-story building, and as long as a football field. He could now clearly see windows, and a brightly lit inside.
He could not hear a sound from the unknown object as it continued to slowly make its way through the chilly night in a southwesterly direction.
Fearing that he would be laughed at if he could not provide corroboration, he quickly made his way to the local police in Highland. He related his story to the dispatcher, and she agreed to pass the information to the next town in the object's path, which was Central Communications in St. Clair County.
They in turn relayed the report to the Lebanon police department. At approximately 4:10 AM, a Lebanon police officer, hearing the radio report, spotted a bright object, which seemed to be suspended in the sky.
He could clearly make out two lights, very close to one another. The policeman, with lights flashing, raced to the southeast, hoping for a better vantage point to view the strange sight. He watched the unknown object as he drove, and after a few moments, noticed that the two lights had merged into one.
The object seemed to be changing course, and moving directly toward him.
At this point, he stopped his patrol car, and rolled his window down. To his amazement, he could very clearly see a triangular-shaped UFO pass over him, at an altitude of 1,000 to 1,500 feet. Then, the UFO quickly changed its course, moving in a westerly direction.
This sighting was corroborated by a policeman from Shiloh, who described the object as being shaped like a black arrowhead.

I will be the first to admit that there is a ton of great paranormal news that doesn't make it on this site. Between everything going on in the world of hauntings, UFOs, cryptozoology, and parapsychology, it is sometimes too much to keep up with. However, I've done this in the past and I'm going to do it again for April 2012: the Paranormal News Roundup.
PARAPSYCHOLOGY IN PARANORMAL NEWS
Let's kick off the first bit of paranormal news with an interesting statistic: 20% of kids hear voices. A study was conducted in Ireland with 2,500 kids between 11 and 16 years old. For the 1/5 of kids that experienced auditory hallucinations, researchers concluded that most have a minor form of depression; for those with more extreme symptoms, ADD and clinical depression are most likely the cause. There was no mention of ghosts or aliens as the cause of these voices, which is to be expected in a scientific study. So while this isn't paranormal news in substance, I have no doubt that many paranormal researchers will be second-guessing these findings.

A strange feature on the red planet brings us to our next notable mention of paranormal news. What looks like an exact rectangle monolith on the surface of mars has a lot of folks wondering. Paranormal enthusiasts believe it could be some sort of marker put there by extraterrestrials. Astronomers and scientists believe it is just a coincidentally shaped boulder. It does look oddly out-of-place, which is why I think it's strange enough to label as paranormal news:

In the city of Saskatoon, with the Canadian province Saskatchewan, a priest was called in to perform an exorcism on a middle-aged gentleman. The 'possessed' gentleman was shirtless and distraught, with the word "Hell" self-carved into his chest. When the priest arrived, this possessed used an odd voice stating, "He belongs to me. Get out of here." After a few blessings the man appeared to be back to normal. The priest also explained this was not an exorcism at all like is portrayed in the movies. Rather, he recited and performed basic blessings and prayers. Typically when exorcisms make it into a large newspaper's once-a-year paranormal news column, extreme violence is what lands the story in print. It's nice to see an exorcism with a positive conclusion getting attention.

In the area of emerging discoveries, the public may be ahead of some science journalists in recognizing coming trends.Where to begin? "Die Glocke" (Bel) adalah nama dari senjata rahasia Nazi dengan teknologi super melebihi zamannya. Satu-satunya sumber yang menceritakan hal ini adalah buku jurnalisme pertahanan luar angkasa Polandia dan sejarawan militer Igor Witkowski, yang telah mengklaim bahwa "Die Glocke" merupakan salah satu senjata rahasia yang luar biasa ("Wunderwaffe"). Hal ini menjadi populer setelah diangkat oleh Excise Ardor, Joseph P. Farrell dan website-website teori konspirasi, yang mengkaitkannya dengan okultisme Nazi dan pencarian energi anti-gravitasi.
"Die Glocke" pertama muncul dalam buku berbahasa Polandia karangan Igor Witkowski berjudul "Prawda O Wunderwaffe" terbitan tahun 2000, yang di Jerman sendiri diterbitkan dengan judul "Die Wahrheit "uber die Wunderwaffe", yang menamakannya sebagai "Bel Nazi". Tapi hal itu masih belum banyak diketahui orang, sampai dengan diterbitkannya buku "The Search for for Energy Intend" karangan jurnalis, pengarang, dan mantan editor penerbangan Inggris untuk "Jane Information's Ready", Excise Ardor. Rasa keingintahuan meningkat, dan buku Witkowski kemudian diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Inggris pada tahun 2003 oleh Bruce Wenham dengan judul The Information In the vicinity of the Wunderwaffe. Spekulasi lebih lanjut tentang penemuan ini telah muncul dalam buku karangan pengarang 'pinggiran' Amerika, Joseph P. Farrell, Jim Marrs dan Henry Stevens.

Pertambangan ini sendiri terletak sekitar 50 kilometer dari Wroclaw, sedikit ke utara dari desa Ludwikowice Klodzkie (sebelumnya dikenal sebagai Ludwigsdorf) di dekat perbatasan dengan Cekoslowakia. Ardor dan Witkowski mengunjungi tempat ini dalam rangka kepentingan untuk pembuatan film dokumenter Furrow 4 Inggris "UFOs: the Private Details" (yang punya nama lain juga, "An Eccentric Register of Terrain Humankind").
Alat ini dikatakan terbentuk dari bahan metalik, dengan lebar 9 kaki dan tinggi 12 sampai 15 kaki, dengan bentuk sangat mirip dengan bel (makanya nama "Die Glocke" itu tercipta). Bila benda ini beraksi, maka "Die Glocke" akan memancarkan radiasi kuat, yang pada kenyataannya telah membunuh beberapa ilmuwan yang terlibat dalam pembuatannya, juga banyak tanaman dan hewan percobaan!
Berdasarkan keterangan dari Igor Witkowski, sejarawan penerbangan angkasa Polandia yang telah meneliti benda ini selama lebih dari 20 tahun, dalam wawancaranya dengan Confession Furrow dalam dokumenter "Nazi UFO Parcel" : "Penampilan luarnya.. begitu anehnya dengan bungkus bahan keramik dan berbentuk bel, yang menyimpan sebuah inti yang dikelilingi oleh dua silinder yang berotasi dalam rotasi berlawanan. Dan setelah terhubung dengan arus bervoltase tinggi, silinder tersebut akan mulai berputar di arah yang bertolak belakang. Dipercaya bahwa hal ini akan menjadi salah satu cara untuk menaklukkan gravitasi bumi."
Menurut keterangan dari Farrell, begitu berkepentingannya Nazi untuk menjaga kerahasiaan bel ini, sehingga mereka membunuh 60 orang ilmuwan yang bekerja dalam proses pembuatannya, dan menguburkannya di sebuah kuburan massal! Terus bagaimana hal ini bisa bocor juga? Satu-satunya sumber datang dari jenderal SS yang ditugasi untuk melakukan pembantaian tersebut, Jakob Sporrenberg, yang setelah perang usai dituntut ke pengadilan penjahat perang Polandia atas tuduhan membunuh rakyatnya sendiri di tempat yang kemudian menjadi wilayah Polandia. Dari pernyataan tertulisnyalah kita tahu akan kisah Bel Nazi ini.
Bila diminta untuk berandai-andai, apakah yang kemudian terjadi pada bel tersebut, bila memang dia ada? Tidak diketahui apakah dia dievakuasi keluar Jerman, meskipun ada pula beberapa perkiraan yang muncul : Witkowski berspekulasi bahwa "Die Glocke" dibawa ke salah satu negara di Amerika Selatan yang bersimpati kepada Nazi, sementara Ardor berkeyakinan bahwa akhir Bel Nazi adalah di Amerika Serikat sebagai bagian dari recommend rahasia dengan jenderal SS Hans Kammler, sedangkan Farrell sendiri mempunyai pendapat lain bahwa "Die Glocke "tidaklah dibawa ke Amerika Serikat sampai pengangkutannya setelah insiden UFO Kecksburg yang terkenal.
Terus apa sebenarnya tujuan dari pembuatan "bel" super aneh ini? Masih belum diketahui, walaupun ada beberapa spekulasi dari anti-gravitasi sampai ke perjalanan waktu.
Jan van Helsing mengklaim dalam bukunya "Copse Societies" bahwa, dalam sebuah pertemuan yang dihadiri oleh anggota dari organisasi-organisasi rahasia (Vril Gessellschaft, Thule Bludgeon, elit SS Matahari Hitam) bersama dengan dua orang cenayang, dikumpulkan data-data teknis untuk pembangunan sebuah mesin terbang, berdasarkan sebuah pesan yang disebut-sebut datang dari sistem solar Aldebaran.
Salah seorang ilmuwan yang menjadi nara sumber Ardor dalam "The Search for for Energy Intend" adalah "Dr. Dan Marckus" (Ardor mengatakan dalam bukunya bahwa dia telah mem-"nyamar"kan nama Marckus dan bahwa dia adalah seorang "ilmuwan handal yang bekerja di Departemen Fisika di salah satu universitas Inggris terkemuka"). Dr. Marckus mengklaim bahwa Bel Nazi adalah sebuah generator lapangan bertorsi dan bahwa para ilmuwan SS berusaha untuk membuat semacam mesin waktu dengannya.
Klaim asli tentang keberadaan eksperimen SS tersebut telah disebarkan pula oleh Igor Witkowski, yang berkata bahwa dia telah menemukan keberadaan proyek kontroversial ini setelah melihat transkrip rahasia interogasi KGB terhadap SS-Gruppenf"uhrer Jakob Sporrenberg.
Berdasarkan keterangan Witkowski, di bulan Agustus 1997 telah diperlihatkan kepadanya beberapa file oleh seorang perwira intelijen Polandia (yang identitasnya dirahasiakan). Si perwira ini mempunyai akses ke dokumen-dokumen penting sekaligus top secret menyangkut senjata-senjata rahasia yang dikembangkan oleh Nazi. Disinilah Witkowski pertama kali mengetahui tentang detail interogasi Sporrenberg yang dilakukan tahun 1950/51 ketika dia dipenjara di Polandia. Witkowski menceritakan secara terperinci hal ini dalam bukunya "The Information In the vicinity of the Wunderwaffe", dan meskipun tidak pernah ada verifikasi akan klaim yang diajukan oleh Witkowski, tetapi hal ini segera mendapatkan perhatian masyarakat luas setelah diberitakan ulang oleh pengarang Inggris Excise Ardor dalam buku non-fiksinya yang populer, "The Search for for Energy Intend".
Sumber satu-satunya kisah ini semata-mata bertumpu pada kesaksian Witkowski yang melihat transkrip rahasia interogasi Sporrenberg dan komentar dia terhadapnya. Dokumen-dokumen ini sendiri tidak pernah dipublikasikan karena Witkowski mengaku dia hanya diperbolehkan untuk menterjemahkan, dan tidak untuk menggandakannya. Tak ada bukti lain selain bukti ini yang muncul ke permukaan.
Ternyata "Die Glocke" bukanlah satu-satunya benda yang "ditemukan" oleh Witkowski karena ada lagi yang namanya "The Henge", yang kemungkinan adalah bangunan percobaan untuk pendorong anti-gravitasi yang digerakkan oleh Bel. Witkowski sendiri berkata bahwa kompleks industri yang berada di dekat pertambangan Wenceslas merupakan tempat percobaan Bel Nazi tersebut.
Di bulan Agustus 2005 seorang investigator Jerman dan perwira club GAF bernama Gerold Schelm (dengan nama lain "Golf Sierra") mengunjungi "The Henge" dan mempublikasikan penemuannya di bulan November tahun itu. Dia mengklaim bahwa sebagian cerita tentang "The Henge" adalah kepalsuan belaka, dengan memperbandingkannya dengan bangunan serupa yang dia temukan di sebuah kota Polandia bernama Siechnice, yang ternyata merupakan kerangka dari menara pendingin. Untuk memperkuat klaimnya, Schelm memperlihatkan perbandingan foto Witkowski dengan menara pendingin Siechnice.
Schelm kemudian berkata lebih jauh : "persamaan antara bangunan beton yang dikenal dengan nama "The Henge" dengan struktur dasar dari menara pendingin Siechnice benar-benar tak dapat disangkal lagi. Dan meskipun jumlah tiangnya tidak sama (12 di Siechnice dan 11 di Ludwikowice), saya yakin bahwa bahkan dimensinya tidak jauh berbeda. Bangunan tersebut benar-benar mirip satu sama lain, yang membuat saya berkesimpulan bahwa menara pendingin dan "The Henge" dibangun dengan perencanaan yang sama, bahkan mungkin oleh perusahaan konstruksi yang sama. Saya tak berhasil mendapatkan data tentang kapan menara Siechnice tersebut dibangun, tapi menara tersebut sampai saat ini berada dalam kondisi yang bagus, dan membuat saya berpikir bahwa kemungkinan ia dibuat setelah Perang Dunia II, mungkin di tahun 60-an atau 70-an."
Witkowski memperlihatkan pada Ardor beberapa baut berbahan metal yang terlihat di bagian fence atas struktur yang dia temukan, tepay di setiap tiang. Witkowski berkesimpulan bahwa baut-baut tersebut di masa lalu merupakan semacam peredam kekuatan besar yang dikeluarkan oleh benda berat yang disimpan di tengah-tengah bangunan, yang apalagi kalau bukan "Die Glocke".
Tentu saja untuk hal ini pun Gerold Schelm punya asumsi tersendiri : " Dengan melihat perbandingan antara "The Henge" dengan menara pendingin Siechnice, maka tujuan dari baut-baut yang disebutkan oleh Witkowski menjadi jelas : konstruksi metal bagian atas dari menara pendingin Siechnice bertumpu tepat pada 12 baut metal dan hanya dapat terlihat dari bagian atas setiap tiang, sama seperti "The Henge". Maaf Mr. Mahmud eh Witkowski, tapi di titik ini teori anda masuk ke gorong-gorong (tokay kalee!). Struktur beton yang anda sangka sebagai bangunan percobaan untuk menyimpan Bel Nazi di dalamnya, tak lebih dari sisa-sisa sebuah menara pendingin. Dan, dengan melihat fakta ini sebagai bahan pertimbangan, akan tampak bahwa pembangkit tenaga listrik yang terletak di ujung utara lembah tersebut, bersebelahan dengan "Fabrica", pastilah mempunyai sebuah menara pendingin, dan tempat fence pas untuk membangun menara semacam itu tentunya berada di seberang kanan "Fabrica". Nah, "Fabrica" itu sendiri, apa pun tujuan pendiriannya, pastilah membutuhkan pasokan listrik yang besar, sementara letaknya sendiri berada di tempat yang jauh dari mana-mana. Lebih praktis untuk membangun sebuah pembangkit tenaga listrik di pabrik tersebut, menggunakan batu bara dari pertambangan Wenceslas sebagai penggeraknya. Seperti yang Ardor katakan sendiri, terdapat sebuah pembangkit tenaga listrik di ujung lembah, yang Witkowski perlihatkan langsung kepadanya."
Ketika Ardor bertanya pada Witkowski bangunan apa itu, Witkowski menjawab "Saya tak tahu pasti. Tapi apapun itu, orang-orang Jerman berhasil menyelesaikan pembuatannya. Dengan kondisi cahaya seperti ini memang sulit untuk melihat warna bangunan tersebut, tapi anda bisa perhatikan sendiri bahwa beberapa cat hijau aslinya masih tertinggal. Anda tak mungkin mengkamuflasekan sesuatu yang masih belum jadi. Itu adalah sesuatu yang tak masuk di akal." Kemudian, Witkowski berkata bahwa itu adalah sebuah bangunan percobaan. Ardor sendiri kemudian berpendapat bahwa dia tidak akan mendukung atau menyangkal klaim Witkowski, karena biarlah waktu yang akan membuktikannya.
Witkowski memperlihatkan lebih jauh lagi pada Ardor, dimana tanah di sekeliling struktur tersebut telah digali sedalam satu regulator kemudian dilapisi dengan ubin keramik yang sama seperti yang disebutkan oleh Sporrenberg dalam ruang tempat Bel disimpan. Seperti biasa, Schelm mengeluarkan klaim tandingan : "Saya telah membekali diri dengan sebuah sekop lipat kecil, dan kemudian mulai menggali di tiga atau empat tempat sekeliling "The Henge". Saya tak menemukan apa-apa, hanya tanah biasa yang penuh dengan cacing, serangga dan daun busyuk."
Mengenai cat di bangunan Ludwikowice, Schelm berpendapat : "Ketika saya berjalan di antara tiang-tiang tersebut, saya memperhatikan bahwa di batas sebelah tenggara terdapat sisa-sisa yang kemungkinan merupakan pelek beton, yang mengelilingi "The Henge" dengan diameter yang sedikit lebih besar dan berada 3 regulator di luar lingkaran tiang. Sebagian dari pelek tersebut masih tersisa, dengan panjang 4 regulator, sementara yang lainnya sudah tak dapat diakses lagi karena sudah dipenuhi oleh rumput dan alang-alang, atau karena sudah diledakkan jauh di waktu sebelumnya. Warna Pelek beton itu adalah warna yang sama yang digunakan untuk seluruh bangunan, warna pirus (biru-hijau).
Di tahun 2006 Joseph P. Farrell berkata dalam bukunya "SS Brotherhood of the Noise" : "Sebuah obyek yang sangat aneh yang tampak seperti Rock Henge besar tapi terbuat dari beton, dan kemungkinan merupakan sebuah bangunan percobaan untuk proyek tertentu."
Farrell melanjutkan : "Witkowski telah menambahkan beberapa informasi tambahan kepada saya yang tidak ada dalam bukunya. Rainer Karlsch, pengarang Jerman yang baru saja menerbitkan buku di negaranya tentang program nuklir Hitler, juga menyebutkan bahwa sebuah tim ahli fisika dari Universitas di Giessen telah melakukan penelitian intensif di Ludwikowice, terutama di The Henge. Hasil penelitian tersebut begitu luar biasanya, karena terdapat sisa-sisa isotop di konstruksi yang dipakai sebagai lokasi penelitian, yang hanya bisa dihasilkan oleh radiasi kuat sinar neutron. Maka tentunya harus ada semacam benda yang mengakselerasi ion-ion, sebuah benda yang BERAT. Kita bisa mengkalkulasikan intensitas radiasi yang terjadi di tahun 1945, dan secara umum radiasinya tinggi sekali. Dengan kata lain, apapun itu yang diujicoba di The Henge, dan semua indikasi mengarah ke Bel Nazi, maka hal itu selain membutuhkan sebuah bangunan kuat yang dapat menahan setiap goncangan, juga akan mengeluarkan radiasi yang kuat dan berat."
Dalam bukunya yang berjudul "Hitler's Covert and Still-Secret Ordnance, Science and Gear", Stevens menulis tentang percakapan yang terjadi di tahun 60-an antara ayah temannya dengan boss-nya di NASA, Otto Cerny, yang ternyata adalah ilmuwan Jerman dari Abuse Paperclip. Pada mulanya Cerny hanya samar-samar saja bercerita tentang apa yang dia lakukan di masa lalu, dan berkata bahwa itu adalah "eksperimen aneh tentang alam waktu". Tapi kemudian dia menggambar sebuah struktur yang dibuat dari lingkaran batu-batu dengan sebuah cincin di atasnya bersama dengan cincin kedua yang seperti tempat menggantung sesuatu. Cerny manambahkan bahwa di atas struktur batu tersebut dipasang sebuah cermin cekung yang membuat "bayangan-bayangan di masa lalu" tampak kembali di masa kini. Dia mengklaim bahwa adalah mungkin untuk "kembali ke masa lalu dan menjadi saksi apa yang terjadi di masa itu" meskipun tetap kita tidak bisa maju ke masa depan!
