The 1995 Ufo Incident In Tanjung Sepat Malaysia
The last major UFO sighting in Malaysia was the Tanjung Sepat UFO Incident in 1995. That was 17 years ago and due to the long time passing, there are not much information on-line on this and most people have forgotten about the incident. Sightings of UFOs are rare in Malaysia but once in a blue moon, when it does happen, the sightings will quickly become big news and when the sightings are over, the news of the incident will disappear as fast from people's memories too.

Background of Tanjung Sepat


It is an area near to the coast of the state of Selangor and close to the area which is the Kuala Lumpur International Airport now. It is a rural area filled with oil palm plantation and thick jungles and occupied by small villages and houses. People who live in the area worked as farmers, fishermen, plantation owners and plantation workers.

The UFO Incident


Reports of people seeing a "UFO as big as a football field, tall like a building with red, orange and green bright lights surrounding it and green humanoids 60 cm tall with long ears and red eyes" became the talk of the local villagers there in the month of October 1995. Very soon the news reached the big national newspapers and the incident became national news. The incident became so big that some of the newspapers sent out their reporters to investigate the case. Here is an account by a reporter from " The Star" newspaper, Mr Ricky Lai in 1995 - " I went there at night and waited for a few hours then suddenly I saw a powerful bright light that could be seen from many kilo-meter away hovering and moving near the ground in the nearby jungle. It look like the lights was falling down to the ground and I went to search for the landing site but could not find any evidences of landing. I took a few photographs of the lights and was awestruck that I had just saw a UFO in my lifetime. I camped there for a week but the lights did not reappear again."

The Government Explanation


The Malaysian government heard about the incident but declined to investigate it. According to the Science and Technology Minister, Mr Law Heng Ding, the government did not have the resources to investigate UFOs in Malaysia. He further said that they did not believe the story and since there were no damages or loss of life, the government believe the incident did not need a formal investigation and the case closed.

Conclusion


The Tanjung Sepat UFO incident in 1995 was a big and memorable UFO sighting in Malaysia. Right after the incident occurred, the country organised the first Malaysia UFO Conference in a hotel in December 1995 which was a huge success, thanks to this incident. Whether this incident is true or not, nobody knows for sure but it cause a deep interest in the study of unidentified flying objects and strange lights in the skies of Malaysia.
