It was a pleasant night with a clear sky and a very low wind blowing, estimated about 3-4 mph. Suddenly Lana noticed a glowing orange object heading towards her from the South West over the house. It was at quite high altitude but appeared lower than the altitude aircraft would fly at. Due to the brightness of the orange glow coming from the object it was hard to see its actual shape. This glow was constant in brightness and not flickering at all. The object was heading on a straight course to the North East. Tom does not remember whether it was moving in the same direction as the wind or not. It appeared to be moving quite fast, Tom estimates about 300 mph.The couple watched the object head off into the distance. As it headed away, Lana tried taking a phoptograph of the object on her mobile phone, which unfortunately just came out as a glowing orange pinprick of light:Zoomed photo of the UFO:Within a couple of minutes it had been lost from sight. Tom and Lana remained on the drive chatting about what they had seen. A few minutes went by and then they noticed a second object, exactly the same as the first, and heading on the same course. Again it flew overhead and was lost from sight in the distance. They continued to watch the sky.Another few minutes went by and then Lana spotted a third object heading towards their location. At this point Tom decided to go and get his binoculars from the garage to take a closer look. When he first looked at the object, all he could see was an intense orange glow. He readjusted his binoculars and made out a triangular shaped object from which the glow was emanating. He and Lana watched this third object go out of sight. They remained outside a while but no further objects came over so in the end they headed back inside.Tom is ex-military, and has worked for 18 years in the Air Force Reserves. He says that the objects they saw were like no aircraft he had ever seen before. They had no beacon lights on them and were glowing intensely. Both him and Lana were in awe at what they had seen. Tom says that although they have a digital camera they didn't think about using it at the time as they were so amazed at what they were witnessing.In the morning Tom rang a previous co-worker, Cliff Allen, who flies small commercial aircraft out of the Greenwood Indiana airport. When Tom discussed the sighting with Cliff, his first response was "I don't know what you saw". After further discussion he suggested Tom could have seen some UFOs. Later Tom informed his children, brothers and sisters who were interested in what him and Lana had seen.Sighting AnalysisThis is an interesting sighting, though I do wonder if what was seen was either lanterns or LED balloons. Chinese lanterns do glow a bright orange colour and at a distance it is hard to tell their exact shape. Despite the fact that they often flicker in brightness, sometimes they can appear constant. Lanterns are often launched in multiples. They drift up into the sky and if caught in an air current can appear to follow each other along a straight course across the sky. The objects did not perform any manoeuvres that would suggest they were under intelligent control. Chinese lanterns are usually cylindrical in shape, yet Tom said that the 3rd object appeared triangular. However lanterns are sometimes created in other shapes, or possibly the triangular shape he saw was an optical illusion caused by the brightness of the glow coming from the object. Tom says the objects looked like they were as large as aircraft, however after dark there is no point of reference so it is possible the objects were lower in the sky than they appeared, and therefore could have been smaller. The bright glow emanating from them could have also made them appear larger.The other possibility is that the objects were orange coloured LED balloons. These can come in a variety of shapes and again tend to follow a straight course across the sky. As they are electronically lit they do not flicker at all, so perhaps this is the explanation.Obviously I cannot say for certain that it was either of these things. The triangular shape is certainly interesting, so there is still the possibility that they were three unusual glowing craft of some kind. When the Obama Justice Department went after Drake with the Espionage Act -- their poorly constructed case fell apart a day before going to trial, after causing Drake years of needless suffering -- they revealed details about Drake, his former senior NSA position, his role at Signals Intelligence, and other information that may have compromised a deep black operation at NSA.

I immediately thought I was looking at Arcturus or Sirius, but Sirius hadn't even risen above the horizon and I was able to locate Arcturus in the eastern part of the night sky almost directly above me; but whatever I was looking at was far brighter than Arcturus. I then received a call from my brothers girlfriend and told her to go outside and look in the direction that I was witnessing the object. The first thing she said when she found it in the sky was that it was pulsating and changing colors. Then she asked me what it was and if it could be a comet or asteroid. I had explained that if it were either of these that we would be seriously screwed because it would have a trajectory path towards Earth, and that it would be visible during the day time hours. While on the phone with her I had grabbed a pair of binoculars and steady them with a tripod. I was able to observe the object which was cylindrical in nature, like a cigar, rotate in the sky while changing colors and pulsating light. At one point it actually looked like an upside down jellyfish. It was very weird! When I had finished speaking with her I grabbed my camera and mounted it on my tripod and tried taking a few shots of the object before it disappeared behind the tree line. I sat there wondering what it was that I had just seen and why I wasn't seeing any other aircraft in the sky. Normally, I can sit and watch planes coming in to land at Boston fly a specific flight path, where this object was located; hence why I initially thought it was an airplane. The following night I thought I would try to look in the same area for the object I observed and was amazed to see it in the night sky for a second night in a row! I thought I could repeat the process on the third night, but it was no longer there. I thought I would try and give it a shot on the fourth night and again no luck, however the planes that take the flight path where the object was witnessed finally began running again, leaving me to believe that it was not coming back.

I would usually reply with just a page or two of skeptical materials, but I suppose that was not what they wanted to receive.Now it's time to look at the correspondence I received when I was listed by NASA (along with several other groups) as a source of information about UFOs. Each and every such letter I received was from someone who had written NASA, asking for information about UFOs. NASA replied that they did not have any such information, but here is a list of organizations that do. The time frame is mostly about 1978-1983. Unfortunately the box where these letters were stored was damaged in a flood, resulting in much discoloration, but most of them are still readable.Many letters were received from Latin America, most written in Spanish or Portuguese. Brazil was among the most avidly interested countries. Other letters were received from Poland, Austria, the UK, and even India. The foreign letters seemed to be from somewhat older correspondents, apparently college students. Some of the letters were from adults, but in a business-related context, not a personal one. This one, for example is from a Public Relations firm in Japan anxious to make money by promoting UFO sensationalism:

Why does this matter? We often hear UFO proponents advocating to have the government get back into UFO investigations and studies in one capacity or another. Supposedly this will lead to progress being made in finding out what UFOs 'really are.' Perhaps, but what we can be certain of is that a large part of the UFO Department's correspondence will look like this. And there will be a clamor for it to be released in full. Then accusations of a "coverup" when it is seen that the files contain little but trivial and foolish correspondence. If you were a government official, plugging away at your desk on some mundane administrative task, would you like to see your department plunged into the middle of this can of worms?
