New Ufo Sightings Investigated In Erath County

Texas' UFOs are back - just in time for Halloween.

Reports of UFOs sighted over North Central Texas last week are the latest in an apparent sequel to the Stephenville sightings in January, which made headlines nationwide.

Dozens of residents in and around Erath County reported seeing strange lights in the sky the evening of Oct. 23, according to the "Stephenville Empire-Tribune, "which also reported that the military has confirmed the presence of F-16s in the area at that time.

"I think more people are willing to come forward now that more people are talking about this," said Whitney White-Ashley, a reporter for the paper.

CNN reported last week's sightings, interviewing Dublin resident Andy Monroe, who caught a 30-second video of a line of red lights he says encircled an oval shape floating in the sky.

Most of the descriptions are of an oval shape with lights around the outside, said Alejandro Rojas with the Mutual UFO Network, a nationwide organization created in 1969 to scientifically study UFO sightings. A MUFON investigator is interviewing witnesses, and the group has already sent requests for radar data from the F-16s.

"These are descriptions that were sent into our Web site the night of the sighting, so they could not have been something just copied from media coverage," Rojas said.

JANUARY SIGHTINGS

In or around Jan. 8, dozens of people around Dublin and Stephenville - about 70 miles southwest of Fort Worth - reported seeing something that did not move like conventional aircraft.

Descriptions varied. Some told of objects up to a mile long and hundreds of yards high. Others reported seeing two to eight lights that flew in formation, changed color and shone with intensity greater than a welding flame. Some witnesses said the objects were accompanied or followed by military jets.

LATEST TEXAS SIGHTINGS

According to MUFON'S Web site:

Near Dublin. A couple said that at about 7:20 p.m. Tuesday they were headed west on U.S. 377 when they saw a flying object sporting three sets of three lights in a semicircle.

Dallas. A man said he was walking his dog at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday when he saw a triangle-shaped object with orange lights flying silently almost due south over downtown.

Fairfield. Residents reported seeing from their porch an oval object glowing red while hovering at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the southwest. "Occasionally it would throw a whitish blue light. We could see other air traffic way high above it [planes fly along Interstate 45 as a normal route]. This looked nothing like what else was in the sky."

Florida Witness Describes Hovering Boomerang Shaped Ufo

A Florida witness at Palm Harbor reported watching a hovering, boomerang-shaped UFO with three bright white lights, according to testimony in Case 63122 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness and his wife as a passenger were driving northbound along East Lake Road and approaching a stop light when the object was first seen on February 5, 2015.

"I looked up at approximately 70 degrees and noticed a series of three bright, white lights," the witness stated. "There were no red aircraft lights."

There was a 10-second gap when the object was obscured by trees - but during the second sighting it again appeared to be hovering. Pictured: Palm Harbor, FL. (Credit: Google)

As the witness vehicle moved toward the object, trees obstructed their view. But another 40 yards later, they saw the object again.

"The object reappeared approximately at the same location where it was first sighted, indicating it had not moved from the point where it was first sighted 10 seconds before."

The object again seemed to be hovering in a stationary position in the sky under 500 feet and less than 500 feet from the witness.

"There were no flashing or colored lights. There was no fuselage, only a boomerang-shaped wing with a white light at the apex and one on each wing tip."

The witness moved when the light changed and they circled back in about three minutes only to see that the object was gone.

"I probably could have subtended the object with my extended hand. This is not a familiar flight path. It was dark except for street lights and a full moon which did not interfere with the sighting, however, it may have served to back light the object and make the silhouette of the wing easy to see. The lights were large in proportion to the actual wing they appeared affixed to, making the proportions different than a passing aircraft. It was over in about 10 seconds or less, but it was really cool."

Palm Harbor is a community in Pinellas County, Florida, population 57,439.

Florida is currently a UFO Alert Level 5 - with 1.92 sightings per million population based on MUFON January 2015 statistics. Florida received a total of 37 UFO reports in January.

The UFO Alert Rating System is based on five levels - 1 through 5 - where states with 4.01 or higher reports per million residents are rated an Alert 1; 3.01 - 4.0 reports are an Alert 2; 2.51 - 3.0 are an Alert 3; 2.01 - 2.5 are an Alert 4; and those states with 2.0 or lower are rated an Alert 5.

The Problematic Carl Sagan

The other night I had dinner with a bunch of writer, filmmaker, actor and otherwise creative friends, and I was talking about my J. Allen Hynek book project with Cxxx, a documentary filmmaker. I mentioned that I was trying to track down a video copy of the November 8, 1973 episode of "The Dick Cavett Show", but wasn't having any luck so far...

The episode of this classic American TV talk show is important to my book research because it brought together Dr. Hynek, Dr. Carl Sagan, best-selling author and creator of the PBS TV series "Cosmos," recent UFO abductee Charles Hickson, recent UFO witness and helicopter pilot Army Capt. Lawrence Coyne and UFO witness and NASA astronaut James McDivitt to talk about the "flap" of UFO sightings that had been sweeping the nation for months. The program is perhaps most notable for bringing Hynek and Sagan together, as Hynek had become known as a proponent of serious UFO research and Sagan had become known as a proponent of serious UFO skepticism.

Sagan had been systematically picking holes in Capt. Coyne's account of how a UFO had pulled his Army helicopter up nearly 2,000 feet in altitude during his encounter, and Dr. Hynek came to Coyne's defense, saying "Altimeters don't hallucinate. To which Dr. Sagan replied, "I don't mean to attack Captain Coyne, but people who "read "altimeters hallucinate."

Ouch... That had to have left a mark.

So at dinner, my friend Cxxx asked what TV network the show had appeared on. Turns out that in his work making documentary films, he frequently requests archival footage from TV networks, and they happily oblige. So he's offered to approach ABC and request access to this episode of "The Dick Cavett Show"... which is just amazing. Thank you, Cxxx!

My best idea up to that point had been to write to Dr. Sagan's widow and ask if she had a copy of the show that she could give me access to, but that was a tricky letter. How could I explain that I wanted to see the video so I could write in my book what a knob her husband had been to everyone on the show? Clearly that wasn't going to work, so I just wrote her a very bland, generic letter. I think Cxxx's approach is better.

Why is Carl Sagan smiling? Maybe because he thinks he knows exactly "when extraterrestrial civilizations have visited the earth.

So, yeah, I'm conflicted. I have a great deal of respect and admiration for both Dr. Hynek and Dr. Sagan, and I hate to see them fight. But here's why Sagan's disdain for the UFO experience is so problematic. He believed that life almost certainly must exist elsewhere in the universe. And he believed that at least some life on other planets must be technologically advanced and capable of interstellar travel. And he believed that some of those civilizations could very well have visited earth in the distant past. But he ridiculed people who believed that they were still visiting the earth in 1973...

His logic was that the time and distance between our world and theirs must be so great that they would only visit us every couple hundred thousand years or so. But it seems to me that he was making some very big assumptions there, and engaging in what Dr. Hynek was fond of describing as "temporal provincialism," or the belief that an alien race would have to be locked into the same developmental timeline as we are.

I love you Carl, but I think you blew it on this one. I don't mean to attack you, but people who accuse people of reading altimeters of hallucinating hallucinate.

well it was late in the night i was alone out side and my brother was with his freind axross the street' im sure the derection of it was north of fresno Ca. it had a bright white haze around it it was circle and moving slow but im sure it was moving way faster than that cuase it had dissapperd in a cluster of stars way out of our solar system the light went away. as i thoguht in my head to my self i said "i see you" cuase im not the UFO kinda guy. thats when it had left... later that night i only told my brother cuase i did not want any one to think im crazzy. after i had prayed to it hoping some how it can read my thoughts. when i was younger my dad and i seen a '6 million dallar man ' eppisode when a UFO crashes and these people like things can read minds andbut they want there Ship crashes and they cant get back to were they are from... im sure to some this might sound dumb. but im my self i seen what i had seen. 7/6/13... my feeling was weird and did not seem very real until it had left i first noticed it when i was looking at the stars just thinking. was not a plane a plane cannot leave our solar system and a rocket i know what those look like. i wish i had a pic of it if i had one every last soul would belive in some type of smarter Being out there then Just us"

Area 51 Is Officially Acknowledged But Not Ufos

A report by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has disclosed that over 50 percent of the unidentified flying objects (UFOs) usually witnessed above the ground in the late 1950s and 1960s were US spy planes.

According to a report published by Dayton Daily News, the U-2 and SR-71 spy planes were thought as UFOs over half of the time during Project Blue Book.

David MacDonald, executive director of the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), said that for sure a lot of the sightings are terrestrial aircraft, classified military projects or whatever terrestrial objects.

The CIA report also officially acknowledged the existence of Area 51, a US airbase known to house extra-terrestrial technology and alien beings.

Area 51 is located in central Nevada, just 90 miles north of Las Vegas. According to the CIA report, the site was used for testing U-2 spy plane. It was chosen to be the site for the testing after the CIA and Air Force staff did a survey.

After World War II people were more concerned of the flying objects they saw in Area 51 because they did not have an idea of what they were.

Historian at National Museum of the US Air Force, Jeffrey Underwood, said that other UFO sightings turned out to be surveillance balloons in the atmosphere of the Earth.

The U-2 often spotted high above airliners in the 1950s because it can fly more than 70,000 feet. The same with SR-71 Blackbird which can fly more than 80,000 feet, according to the recently released CIA report.

Lake Tiorati Ufo Sighting In 1966

A week before Christmas in 1966, then 23-year old Vincent and two buddies went to a winter fishing when they spotted something unusual in the sky. In a temperate winter weather in December, they were enjoying fishing in the area along the Hudson River, estimated to be 40 miles north of New York City.

In their eastern side was the Indian Point Nuclear Power Station, and Harriman State Park in their western position. While enjoying their fishing, they noticed something unusual in the sky near Lake Tiorati and Harriman forests.

Vincent describes the aerial object as bronze in color and moving without noise. He adds that the size was around 6 meters in diameter.

Vincent managed to take four pictures of the STRANGE FLYING OBJECT that night. Later, the Project Blue Book representatives from U.S. Air Force investigated the UFO sighting report and quickly considered the sighting photos as part of a hoax.

The National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP) also conducted a study about the sighting by examining the photos and interviewing the three witnesses. Investigators from NICAP found no trace of any hoax.

"Went to the local store at 9:43 p.m. and returned home at 9:59 p.m. I pulled in my driveway which put me facing West when a "pop" of light caught my attention just coming into view over our residence. At first I didnt pay it much attention and went inside and settled my things, taking about 15 minutes I guess. For some reason it was nagging at me to go back outside and just look up. Odd considering the temperature was around 37 degrees! As I walked out onto our porch facing East, there it was. Kind of pulsating/strobing just above the treetops across from us. I watched it for a minute or so and knew I needed to get the Sony HandyCam ASAP! After acquiring the Camcorder I began filming the object just kind of waver around the screen. The object had become an "Orb" looking shape now. I filmed this for around 20-25 minutes observing that the sky was FULL of twinkling stars and NO clouds but, on my LCD screen of the recorder all I could observe was the object in question which made me believe that it was pretty close. Upon realizing this I adjusted my recorder to 800X Digital Zoom and began reshooting the object. I also noticed that now there were more than just the one in the sky. 3 to my knowledge but it was more difficult to get them on film. I briefly had one other zoomed in screen but it quickly moved off to avoid me it seemed. The footage I captured is astounding. Ive seen many videos taken over the years of Unidentified Flying Objects but, nothing to this effect. It should also be stated that many times while filming my hearing was affected with a high pitched ringing tone and throughout the encounter I felt very safe and curiously enough very loved."

Ufo Sighting In Houma

UFO SIGHTING IN HOUMA, LOUISIANA ON JULY 26TH 2013 - CRIMSON RED ORBS OBSERVED IN THE NIGHT SKY OVER SOUTHERN LOUISIANA MOVING FROM WEST TO EAST.

It was about 11:35 at night and I was driving home from work when I first noticed a large pattern of lights visible directly in front of me about 50 degrees from the horizon. I initially thought they might be flares but they were moving to fast laterally to be flares. They were crimson red in color and appeared to flutter or twinkle a bit. There were 5 orbs total moving from west to east just below the cloud line. They were moving slightly faster than a plane would be. Each light/orb was flying at a different altitude from one another and appeared to be in some sort of large formation. I pulled over into a gas station to observe them further, but as I was doing this the lights started to fade out and then disappeared. The total time I was able to observe was about 2 minutes. I often gaze into the night sky and have observed many planes, helicopters, satellites, etc.. but these orbs definitely seemed to be something different.

Massive Glowing Disc Over Santiago Chile Nov 30 2012

The recent UFO sightings in the city of Santiago are creating fear among the population, according to a TV news report. On the 30 November 2012, a huge glowing disc and smaller craft were spotted over Santiago, multiple witness's claim the object was massive, possibly the size of a football field, and seemed to glow, it was followed by a smaller craft or orb.

Experts do not know why these unidentified flying objects appear during or after any disaster. What is the relationship between UFOs and natural disasters, catastrophic events such as earthquakes, and why such interest in Santiago, a huge hotspot for UFO activity.
